The echocardiography laboratory currently performs 13,000 echocardiograms a year. These studies include: transthoracic echocardiograms with Doppler, transesophageal echocardiograms with Doppler, stress echocardiograms (with treadmill stress or pharmacologic agents) and contrast echocardiograms. The equipment in the lab is state-of-the-art and includes new technology such as tissue-Doppler, intracardiac imaging, perfusion imaging as well as three-dimensional echocardiography.
The laboratory has particular expertise in a number of areas including: the Marfan syndrome, valvular heart disease, cardiac disease in pregnancy, cardiac disease in stroke, cardiac disease in diabetes and adult congenital heart disease.
