The Addiction Practice at the Westchester Division is a division of the Department of Psychiatry which provides assessment and treatment for adults who are experiencing substance dependence.
Addiction is a lifelong illness in which there is a pattern of misuse of a drug, problems with social life or work, and/or evidence of tolerance.
Treatment is available in residential, ambulatory, and inpatient settings. Treatment always involves total abstinence from the drug that was abused and from all other drugs of addiction. Learning about addiction and finding ways to cope with the emotional and social result of addiction are important goals of treatment.
