Dr. Angela Vouyouka is an Assistant Professor of Surgery and an assistant attending surgeon at NY-Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center. She completed medical school at the Capodistrean University of Athens School of Medicine. Following a residency in General Surgery at Saint Mary?s Hospital in Waterbury Connecticut, Dr. Vouyouka completed fellowship training in Vascular Surgery at University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics. In addition, she completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at Yale University. Dr Vouyouka has under gone additional training in minimally invasive treatments for vascular conditions including carotid stenting and minimally invasive repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms.

Dr. Vouyouka was a faculty member in the Department of Surgery at Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan for six years prior to joining the Division of Vascular Surgery at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center in 2006.

Dr. Vouyouka has presented research results at several national and international scientific meetings and has co-authored several original manuscripts published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Vascular Surgery, Journal of Surgical Research and Surgery. Her research interests include the study of factors affecting endothelial and smooth muscle cell function and the incidence of vascular disease in African Americans.

She has a particular interest in women and vascular disease, and conducting research investigating the anatomical and sociological differences between vascular disease in women and in men. Women are currently underrepresented in clinical studies, since 98% of all participants in vascular disease research are men.

Dr Vouyouka is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society, the Midwestern Vascular Society, and the Western Surgical Society. In addition, she is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
