Amy Shapses, Physical Therapist, graduated magna cum laude from Northeastern University in 1995 and has been Director of Physical Therapy at the Iris Cantor Womens Health Center since March 2002. Ms. Shapses has been practicing for 12 years, specializing in outpatient orthopedics involving the spine or extremities and womens health issues focusing on patients with breast cancer and pre and post-partum patients. Attending a variety of conferences and seminars, combined with her years of experience has enabled Ms. Shapses to pinpoint the origin of a diagnosis through specific evaluation techniques and design the most appropriate treatment plan for each individual patient. Ms Shapses uitilizes manual skills combined with stretching, strengthening and education to assist her patients in achieving their goals and enhancing their quality of life. She has been a Clinical Instructor to physical therapy students interning at New York Presbyterian Hospital. She is currently certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy with the McKenzie Institute. In addition, she is presently working towards a certification in the Leduc Method for the management of Lymphedema.
