Dr. Christopher E. Starr is a board-certified ophthalmologist and an accomplished ocular surgeon. After receiving his medical degree with honors from the Cornell University Medical College, New York-Presbyterian Hospital, he completed an internship in internal medicine at Columbia University, St. Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital. Dr. Starr then moved to Boston where he completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the world-renowned Harvard University, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Following his residency he performed an additional year of advanced training in Corneal, Cataract, and Laser Vision Correction Surgery at the prestigious Johns Hopkins University, Wilmer Eye Institute in Baltimore, MD. His undergraduate and pre-medical studies were completed at Brown University.

Dr. Starr is also a gifted educator and accomplished ophthalmic researcher, author, and lecturer. As a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the New York University Medical Center, Manhattan Eye Ear & Throat Hospital, he was awarded the Teacher of The Year Prize in 2006. Dr. Starr has contributed extensively to the ophthalmic literature, authoring numerous peer-reviewed journal papers, textbook chapters, original articles, and scientific presentations. He has presented his research and lectured at the premier ophthalmic meetings, most recently delivering two lectures at the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery conference. While at the Johns Hopkins University, his distinguished research on corneal dystrophies earned him the coveted Walter J. Stark Research Award. Additionally, two of his textbook chapters appear in what are widely considered definitive ophthalmic texts; Albert & Jakobiecs Principles & Practice of Ophthalmology and Smolin & Thofts The Cornea.

Currently, Dr. Starr is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and serves as the Director of the Residency Program at the Weill Cornell Medical Center, New York-Presbyterian Hospital. As a member of the Weill Cornell Eye Associates he will continue his tradition of excellence in teaching, research and clinical Ophthalmology. His practice interests include advanced corneal, cataract and laser vision correction surgery as well as comprehensive ophthalmology.
