(212) 746-4249 (212) 746-5669
Dara G. Jamieson, MD received her medical education at the University of Pennsylvania and her neurology residency and cerebrovascular fellowship training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to moving to Weill Medical College of Cornell University she practiced at Penn with a specialty in cerebrovascular disease and headache. Her clinical research interests include the prevention and treatment of acute stroke, as well as the treatment of migraine headaches. She is board certified in vascular neurology and holds a certificate in neurosonology.
Headache is a virtually universal experience; however, approximately 28 million Americans suffering from migraine headaches, which may be disabling. Rarely a headache may indicate a neurological disorder for which specific medical or surgical treatment may be life-saving. In a generally older population, stroke is common and much feared, often occurring in the setting of modifiable vascular risk factors. These two neurological diseases, while usually unrelated, may occasionally overlap. Dr. Jamieson's expertise in both headache and cerebrovascular disease, give her an insight into the recognition and treatment of complicated headaches, and cerebrovascular disease presenting with headaches.
