Dr. Cholst graduated from Swarthmore College in 1973 (with honors) and from NYU School of Medicine in 1977. She completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Yale in 1981 and a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at Columbia in 1983. She is board certified in both specialties.
Dr. Cholst has been a full time faculty member at Weill Cornell Medical College since 1983. Her husband of 29 years, Ira Goldberg, is professor of medicine and chief of the division of preventive medicine and nutrition at Columbia. They live on the Upper West Side where they have raised two children. In their spare time, they bicycle, ski, read and enjoy good conversation.
