Dr. John Barnhill is Chief of the Consultation-Liaison Service at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. In that role, he helps supervise a team of students and residents who perform psychiatric consultations throughout the hospital. He is also active on the Hospital's Ethics Committee, through which he is a member of the College's Department of Public Health.

In regards to teaching, Dr. Barnhill is a member of the College's Medical Education Council and teaches college and medical students. Within the psychiatry department, he teaches residents and fellows, is on the Selection and Education Committees, and is Coordinator of the PGY IV Residency Year.

Dr. Barnhill is currently Vice Chair of the College's General Faculty Council. He is a lecturer in Psychoanalysis at the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research. He is Secretary of the Board of the Society for Liaison Psychiatry.

His outpatient practice combines psychotherapy and pharmacology.
