Dr. Kent was recognized early on for his achievements in vascular surgery, when he was awarded the E. J. Wylie Traveling Fellowship. This prestigious fellowship is awarded by the Society of Vascular Surgery for academic excellence in clinical and basic science research and is given to only one vascular surgeon in the United States each year.

Dr Kent is President-elect of his surgical specialty's national society, the Society for Vascular Surgery.
