Lyuba Konopasek, M.D. is Co-Director of the Pediatrics clerkship, Course Director of the Medicine, Patients and Society course, and Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Education) at Weill Cornell Medical College as well as an Associate Attending Pediatrician.

After earning an M.D. at the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago, she completed her residency training in pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Following residency, Dr. Konopasek stayed on at MGH as an attending in one of its community health centers. After two years there, she left to join the faculty at Weill Cornell.


At Weill Cornell, Dr. Konopasek has taught in MPS 1 and 2, the Introductory Clerkship, and the Primary Care Clerkship, as well as the Pediatrics clerkship. She has a particular interest in medical interviewing and the physician-patient relationship and is currenly developing a four year communication skills curriculum at Weill Cornell. She is also very interested in the integration of the arts and humanities into medical education and leads a seminar in collaboration with the Frick Museum in which medical students refine their observational skills through the study of portraits at the museum. She has led several faculty devlopment workshops on this theme at national pediatrics conferences.


As Chair of the Medicine, Patients and Society Course Design Group, Dr. Konopasek is particularly interested in studying and developing longitudinal curricular themes in the medical school curriculum. Last year, Dr. Konopasek completed the Harvard Macy Physician Educator program. Dr. Konopasek's research interests are in medical education and in breastfeeding support for urban lower income families.


Board certified in Pediatrics, Dr. Konopasek is a general pediatrician and her clinical work is primarily based at the Pediatric Primary Care Clinic.
