Dr. Rubin's main interests lie in the field of diseases of nerve and muscle, nerve injury, and spinal injury with nerve entrapment. He is director of the Neuromuscular Service at Weill Cornell Medical Center, and director of the Electromyography Laboratory at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Rubin's research encompasses clinical drug trials primarily for neuropathy. In the past, these have included drug trials for the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and HIV neuropathy. Presently, drug trials in diabetic neuropathy are ongoing. Dr. Rubin teaches at Weill Cornell Medical College and co-directs the Third-year Neurology Clerkship, which is mandatory for all medical students. In March 2007, he co-authored a neuroanatomy textbook, Netter's Concise Neuroanatomy, published by Saunders, which is being used worldwide in the teaching of medical and allied sciences.
