Dr. Rasa Zarnegar is an Assistant Professor of Surgery (Endocrine/Minimally Invasive Surgery) at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He graduated from the Chicago Medical School in 1999 and went on to pursue a career in General Surgery. He trained in General Surgery completing his residency at Case Western Reserve University. After his residency he went on to complete a fellowship in Endocrine Surgery, under the direction of Orlo H. Clark, MD at the University of California, San Francisco. Because of his interest in benign and malignant foregut disorders he went on to complete a fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, under the direction of Lawrence Way, MD, at the University of California, San Francisco, and developed a special interest in diseases of the esophagus, stomach, and pancreas.

During residency and fellowship Dr. Zarnegar developed an interest in the science of tumor redifferentiation and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship using poorly differentiated thyroid cancer as a model. He is widely published in the field of Endocrine Surgery with over 14 articles and 5 book chapters. He has presented his research at numerous national and international meetings. In 2002, he won the Best Resident Research Award at the American Association of Endocrine Surgery meeting. Dr. Zarnegar is a member of the American Board of Surgeons.
