The Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology offers comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for patients with cancer and blood diseases. Outpatient consultations and treatments are provided in state-of-the-art facilities and inpatient care are provided in the new Greenberg Pavilion of the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. We provide an individualized treatment plan for every patient, based on a multi-disciplinary team approach. The team consists of expert, world renowned hematologists and medical oncologists, who work closely with specialized nurses, pharmacists, dieticians, social workers, laboratory scientists, and physicians from other disciplines, including surgery, pathology, diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine, radiation oncology, psychiatry, and pain management. Our special programs in Medical Oncology include:a Comprehensive Breast Cancer Center, a Urological Oncology Program (prostate, kidney and bladder cancers), a Thoracic Oncology Program (lung and esophogeal cancers), and a Gastrointestinal Cancer Program (colon, rectal, liver and stomach cancers).

Our special programs in non-malignant Hematology include the Center for Lymphoma and Myeloma for patients with lymphoma, Hodgkin's Disease and multiple myeloma.

Our Program in Leukemia specializes in the care for patients with acute and chronic leukemias, myelodysplastic and myeloproliferative syndromes, and bone marrow failure syndromes

Our Program in Thrombosis and Vascular Biology proviedes care for patients with blood clots, bleeding problems, and other non-malignant blood disorders.

The Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplantation Program provides multiple therapies, including autologous and allogeneic bone marrow and peripheral blood stem cell transplantation, cord blood transplantation, matched unrelated donor stem cell transplantation, and non-ablative "mini" transplants.

Faculty in the Division participate in a wide variety of clinical and basic research programs that offer innovative new therapies for patients with cancer and blood diseases that are often not available at other centers. Special interests are cell-based and immune-based therapies as alternatives to chemotherapy.
