Gobin, Y. Pierre
(212) 746-4998 (212) 746-6653
Dr. Y. Pierre Gobin completed his medical degree, internship and Radiology residency at the University of Paris, France in 1988. He trained in Interventional Neuroradiology at Hospital Lariboisiere in Paris, and there he performed the first GDC coil embolization in France in a patient with a cerebral aneurysm. Dr. Gobin was recruited by the Division of Interventional Neuro Radiology of the University of California at Los Angeles in 1992, where he was on the faculty for the next nine years. While at UCLA, he participated in further clinical evaluation of GDC technology, which was invented at that institution.
More recently, he conceived and developed an endovascular device, the Concentric Retriever, for cerebral embolectomy to treat acute stroke.
In 2001, Dr. Gobin joined the Weill Cornell Medical College as Professor of Radiology and Neurosurgery, and the New York Weill Cornell Hospital as the Director, Division of Interventional Neuroradiology.
Dr. Gobin is the author of more than 90 articles and reviews pertaining to Interventional Neuroradiology.
